Highly pleased with Windows USA windows and installation

We had a highly informative presentation about six years ago. I was sold on the fused sealant of the Windows USA window assembly.

I think this is vastly better than any sort of gasket. There were 16 windows in all plus a new screen door. The windows were made and shipped within several weeks. Each window was custom-built to the exact window opening in our brick exterior walls.

Two very polite and competent fellows installed them in two days. The windows are fantastic--well worth the higher price of lesser windows.

We have less noise, less dust, and excellent thermal insulation value of the windows. Very pleased and highly recommend them if you can afford the best in vinyl framed windows.

Take the Card and Make THEM Pay!

I was recommended to these guys by 2 relatives who used them. But after getting the high pressure sales treatment and having them reduce the price $6,000 when we refused their original offer, it doesn't take a math genius to figure out how these guys can afford to "give away" so many Wal-Mart cards.

What really makes me angry is that I now KNOW my relatives got taken from these guys!

So, go ahead and schedule these guys if you want the card, listen to their spiel, then take the card and say "I have to think about it." Stick to your guns and immediately, your price too will go down...way, WAY down. I can't speak for their quality because I wouldn't let them change a light bulb in my house, but I as a consumer will not be *** enough to fall for their scam!

If your going to buy from them, just keep saying no. After 4 or 5 attempts you will get the rock bottom price.

They will call the office every 15 minutes as you say I cant afford it right now. They will say " Oh they have such a nice home, great people, really want to help them, blah blah blah. Then hand you the phone, and amazingly the price drops, and drops and drops.12 k goes to 10.5 k then to 9k and lower.

Price Bait an Switch !!!!!!!!

Today, I really wanted to buy NEW WINDOWS....But after three hours of CAR SALESMAN tactics...I was totally turned away from this company....PRICE only good TODAY....MUST sign today...not tomorrow.not next week.not next month...TODAY....only today....the longer we talked the lower the price....WHY was I not given the BEST price to start with I say....$8000.00 down to $7000.00 done to $6000.00. WHAT the heck kind of business practice is THAT ????

And only good TODAY....HELLO !

Jus wish I had looked at this Internet BEFORE allowing these people into my HOME ....BUYER BEWARE ....everything written on here is exactly what happened to us.....every story the same....AND the only ones happy with this company are EMPLOYEES ....paid to write nice commits..... So stressful...So makes me appreciate the LOCAL company I have chosen to to go with..and the decent ,pleasant, ethical salesman who came to my house and did an awesome job for us.

Were you there ?? Have you ever bought Windows from a USED CAR SALESMAN ??.

PS:: I did have enough COMMON SENCE not to be taken by THIS COMPANY !

THANK YOU VERY MUCH ! :(

Guest

That's not bait and switch. That's you deciding you don't weant the windows at that price.

Bait and switch is when a company "baits" you with an ad for a good pricce. Then when you get to the store, they say they don't have any of the advertised merchandise but they have another, more expensive one avaiable.

As for price, yes it is common to start out at the highest and lower it if the buyer is not interested. Did you ever buy a car?

Guest

My wife and I had WindowsUSA replace 13 windows in our old house. Yes the salesman was very "pushy", and yes the price kept dropping as the night wore on.

I guess the reason that the come later in the evening is that it may be easier to wear down a potential buyer. Anyway, we eventually got down to a price we could afford. The installers come on the coldest day of that winter, but they got the old windows out and the new ones in in a matter of seconds.

They were very polite and professional. So all in all our experience was not a bad one and the windows seemed to be of good quality, we haven't been in that house in over eight years now so I can't say how they held up.

installed windows July of 2012, I mentioned then the defect in a window and was told by installer it would be replaced imediately. I called the company 2months later and they knew nothing about it but would get it taken care of imediately.

Needless to say it is now Feb2013 and it still has not been taken care of, also there referal program is bogus I gave them ten names with the promise of $25 per name but was told none were usable even though 2 of them were old houses in my neighborhood. The neighbors were called and told that they do not qualify.

We have had the Windows USA windows in our house for a few years now. We contacted the company when we had an issue with a window (it was our fault- accidently broke a window) & they sent a replacement window sash out right away.

I recommend you contact them again. Great windows, great company.

Guest

I have their windows and I had a defect in a large picture window. I called customer service and shortly afterward with no expense and only one request I had a brand new picture window.

Another added bonus their crew is so cleanly they swept and mopped to ensure there was no debris left behind for my 7 month old. I felt like I had won a prize easiest experience that coup have been bad.

I highly recommend them and have received great rewards through promotions!! :grin

Guest

When people don't qualify it is often bc their FICO credit score isn't high enough. No business is going to pay to send a salesman out to a place if they don't know the buyer can afford the product.

Take the $$ and run!

Windows USA called me and set an appt. for rep.

"Randy" to come out and demo the windows. I explained that I would be interested but I will not buy on the spot! When he came out it took 2-1/2 hours of boaring "how windows are made" lecture. Half way through I told him I was not interested in how they were made and just to give me a quote!

He acted like a little kid wanted to take his toys and go home! Caught him in a couple of lies like first he said if he didn't finish the demo he wouldn't get paid and then said he was on salary! The we played the call the boss for a lower quote game for 1/2 hour! Started out at 7k and they went down to 5k for 7 windows!

Kept putting down other window companies too! Got a Wal-Mart gift card for $100 and they said I would get a check in the mail for another $100.

I say save yourself, take the $$ and run! These guys are true salesman and for a person who is not savy about these sales pitches could end up dishing out a lot of money!

i had the same company out for an estimate and yes it did take a long time but i learned alot about how they make that window. i did buy them and got a great price (i had anderson and champion out too) they installed them just like the guy said.

im happy but do agree the sales call takes a long time but its worth it in the long run.

champian was real bad sales guy, anderson just taked trash about others and relyed on the company name as quality

Berniece Tvq

We had the same company visit us for a window estimate. Although the demo took a little bit of time, we found the demo interesting & were given a great price- we know this because we have been shopping for windows for a while now.

Our rep.

was very good.

We now have the windows in our home & LOVE them. The demonstration was worth it!!!

Guest

I am not a fan of pushy sales tactics and price drops, but I am even less a fan of the "just give me a price" customer. You cannot make an informed decision on price alone or by collecting numerous "prices." The specifics of your project can not be researched on the internet or in brochures. I have observed in 15 years of window sales, that at least 70-80% of install problems could have been avoided by discussing the project up front with the salesperson and not just pressuring them to give you a price.

Windows USA nightmare

We just had the 3 1/2 hr presentation. I will admit the windows seem great but we had 13 windows to replace.

The price started out at 17,998, then 14,700, 12,560 and final down to 11,850. all the rep did was make rude nasty remarks about the other window companies. I told him we only wanted an estimate. I had to start packing his items to make him leave.

He left telling me he was salaried did not care if I purchased or not. We had till midnight to decide on low amt he gave us

Windows USA rep. came to my house last night for 2 1/2 hours!

I sat thru the whole "how windows are made" boaring lecture and when I said that I only wanted a quote he acted like a little kid threatining to take his toys and go home. Then he told us if he didn't finish his demo that he wouldn't get paid and within the same breath told us he was on salery! Then we played the call the boss game and spent another 1/2 hour while he faxed, called the "boss" to get a lower quote... started out at 7 windows for 7000.00 and came down to around 5,000.00.

What a waste of time!

But how many other people have bought thousands of dollars worth of overpriced windows because they felt "obliged" to purchase from Windows USA because they gave them a "free" Wal-Mart card? Word to the wise, somebody is paying for those cards. Do you really think it's the company???

Good for you! They offered $100 for the opportunity to pitch their product.

They could have pitched an honest deal at a fair price, but they chose to do otherwise.

Hopefully, your complaint will spare others the agony. If you ask me, you earned every dime, and you have a right to express your opinion.

Word to the wise! - windows USA is by far one of the best window money can buy after all said and done!

Just becaue you can buy a replacement window at menards or your local store don't mean it's equal. Perhaps you should have done your homework, with a degree of inteligence and perhaps you could realize otherwise. Starting from material and engineering, to quality of glass, sealer and the level of warranty.

BBB just awarded WUSA for their ethics. If you want to bad mouth a company that works hard for their clients and customers after you got compensated $100 go ahead.

You must be making over $50/h and I guess your time is more valuable. And by the way a salesman job is to sell you the job in the best price available due to offer and demand. It's a dynamic project priced based on different conditions from one job to another.

So save your complains for the company that you will end up getting and after you realize the terrible mistake to cut down in quality. You ll see for your self.

Five hour nightmare that won't end

Unbelievable. Jim Williams was the name of the person who came to our home. He said he was the vice-president and one of the original owners of the company. Very, very pushy, corny jokes, took over three hours from the time he arrived and measured to get a price.

When we said we weren't ready to buy yet, we didn't know that Jim Williams had only just begun. He called one of his subordinates, who got on the phone with us and basically belittled and talked to us as though we had a 5th grade education. Completely insulting. This went on back and forth for another hour. Jim ultimately tried to make us feel guilty by implying that we had committed to purchase just by setting an appointment! He said his appointment secretary, Mike Albritton, had driven him five hours out of his territory just to see us!! Really?

The worst part was that during the entire demonstration, Jim had gas. A bad case. Yet never excused himself from the room or apologized. The entire experience was nerve wracking and unsettling to say the least.

The commenters on here are way off base. The company offered the $$ for the opportunity to pitch their product.

$100 is a small price to pay to get in front of a customer. If you're in the market for such a product, it makes no sense to turn down the money. So, Windows USA blew the opportunity with the way their sales rep conducted himself.

The consumer is not obligated to purchase or withhold their negative opinion of the experience. Sounds like a bunch of jilted Windows USA reps to me.

Guest

Sure would like to know if "Window Man" out of Phoenix, AZ is in the business or just an individual commenting.

Guest

So, they gave you $100 to have them in your house to try to sell you something you are obviously interested in, otherwise you would not have contacted them. And now you're mad because he tried really hard to sell you some windows. It sounds like you just don't know how to deal with salespeople.

Guest

This does NOT sound like the Jim Williams that came to our home. Big guy, built like a fire hydrant, face like a bulldog?

Former Navy Seal and part owner?

Has to be the same guy.

We had nothing but a pleasant experience, windows expensive, but company did everything they said they would do, and we will send the referrals in like we have been ordered to.

I think that Darby is a pissed competitor of Jim's and is faking his complaint as a consumer. Jim visited and sold us in South Arkansas recently and the windows are exactly what he said that they were. I think the only gas Darby smelled was his own vile comments and bull *** put on this website!

Windows USA - Avoid this Presentation

Wow. I call to have them give me a quote and for having them come out I would receive a $100 gift Walmart Card. Before I could get the card my wife and i had to give both of our SS# they told me it was to varify that i owned my home (that was a lie it was to run my credit without my permission).

After the 2.5 hour presintation and having me write on a peice of paper "show me how i can save money" i finally got my quote for 12 windows with no grids the starting price was 17K then 12K for signing right now. I then told him no. He then got "his manager" on the phone and after having the manager talk to me on the phone for 10 more minutes they then took off $2000, so now we are at $10K.

I then said no so then they brought in there "eco line" and then tell me that these windows are not eleigable for the Government tax credit and that only the alaskan would qualify (lie again) they then told me i could have the alaskin for $6,771 still $575 per window.

The salesman was loud, long winded, and someone that was just inconsiderate once i told him no.

If you're looking for estimates for home improvement, and somebody offers $100 for the opportunity to pitch their company, why wouldn't you take them up on their offer? On average, most home improvement companies will spend $200-$300 in marketing for every customer they get.

If the company thinks offering some of the money straight to the customer will produce the leads they need, that is their prerogative.

But, the $100 is for the opportunity to pitch to company. It should in no way obligate the consumer to purchase.

When a company is willing to drop the price by the kinds of margins that are being discussed here, it is not a stretch to conclude that they will rape whomever they can.

John B Tms

And, if you pay anywhere near $1K per window, you will never recoup your money spent for plastic windows. God forbid you financed the deal. Then you're really in for it.

Heavy duty well-made windows, installed in one day using quality materials.

For all you know, I'm the owner of the company or just someone who doesn't give a rat's *** about anything at all. How can we know who is posting comments on this site?

As far as I know, we can't. So what's the point of even reading the comments on this site.

Check out the Better Business Bureau if you want legitimate information about any company. This Windows USA company has very good ratings from the BBB.

Guest

People that have opinions are not whiners. They just have an opinion.

The product seemed good.

However the sales presentation was not for me. Flattery, calling the home office a few times, etc. The salesman should know the price for which he can sale the product. The price dropped from 14,000 to 7450 for the Alaskan, 677 per window, a little steep even for the quality.

Salesman was nice, but too much game playing. Present the price bottom, line no games. If it is a good product, it will sell. We were pressured to sign that night.

Why?

If a company is confident about their product, they will wait and be eager to be

compared to others. The product may be good but the presentation taints the product.

Although no source is cited, the most likely for the 71% number is the Remodeling Magazine annual Cost vs. Value Survey.

The number will vary based on the specific region of the country. Contrary to the post, the survey regards all window replacement, in general, and doesn't specify particular materials or performance data. It should be pointed out that this number represents expected increase in equity and not a reduction in energy costs.

In other words, if you replace your windows and sell your home tomorrow, the average increase in the value of the home due to the the window replacement, should recoup about 71% of the cost of the window replacement. If one considers increase in equity in combination with modest savings in energy costs, it can be argued that new windows will "pay for themselves" in a relatively few years.

If one is looking to recoup the cost of new windows based on energy savings alone, expect the recovery period to be far longer than 3-5 years.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-523775

Material dictate value! A true certified energy star double pane low e glass titanium and silica dioxide, with a large percentage of cutting solar heat and low U value with life time warranty on material and labor recoups about 71% on average In 2014 based on Official economic data.

Guest

I didn't buy the windows, but I've been in sales for quite a while and one thing I've learned is that the harder the sale, the lower quality the product or service.

Why the high pressure? Why the drops in pricing during negotiations? If the windows were worth $15,000 the first time around - it'd be impossible to drop that price by nearly half. That means that the highest quoted price was a rip off, plain and simple.

Here's the best thing to do - say NO. Then, check around locally and find out what it would cost a local contractor to install similar quality windows. Check references.

If Windows USA is a better deal - call them back. They'll come back - I promise. Although, personally, I'd never invite a company back that told me a price was only good for one day. I'd show them the door and say....see ya....

Live and learn. Be very wary when someone offers you something at one price and then drops it substantially. That, in my opinion - should send up a HUGE red flag.

Also - be aware that some "complaint" sites can be run by the companies they look as though they're complaining about - and they take a round about tact to make it look like everything is kosher.

If Windows USA is on the up and up - they'll come back tomorrow. If they don't - good riddance to bad rubbish. Don't be fooled. And don't invest in expensive windows if your home value won't bear the cost.

Buyer Bewared

Guest

We dealt with Richard Sykes, an absolute gentleman, and someone named Will at the office. Both top notch, as were our installers.

Did we pay more than you see in the Lowe's circular? Yes, but custom made from head to toe, and we don't regret a thing.

The one thing I notice on this site is no one comes back on and says how happy they were and names another company and price. A lot of whiners.

Guest

Quality Check and "Spartacus" make me laugh. The price was dropped and you complain? Just be honest - you are both bullshitters looking to get the $100 gift card. You still have the same *** single pane windows in your $2 homes, and will forever.

We bought and never looked back. Installation and performance of the windows? First class.

But I'm assuming, "Quality Check" and "Spartacus" being persons of such high moral fiber didn't cash their $100 checks. We all know *** well they did.

John B Tms
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-535315

The one thing every company you listed has in common is that they all use the same tactics, including pricing their products at 2-3 times the market value. Nearly every major market has a good local window company which will sell a similar product with good installation and service at a fraction of the price.

Shop around, people. And, if the guy can't give you his pitch in an hour or less, he's trying to ***.

Spare yourself the agony, and don't pay prices you'll never recoup in energy-savings or equity increase. Move on to the next company.

Guest

Some of you need to relax. 99% of window/home improvement companies are going to aggressively ask for your business and give you detailed presentations.

It's not because they're afraid of you shopping around or finding out about the company. It's just the way the industry is. It's very competitive.

Line them all up: Champion, Americas Window, Primax, Sears, Sunrooms and More, Apex. They're all good company's with good products and similarly priced.

I promise you all of them are going to ask for your business MULTIPLE times when they're in your home.

Granted, some will be smoother and more tactful, but it will happen guaranteed. Not a bad thing, its just the way it is.

Guest

Here's the thing none of the complainers on here will tell you: THEY solicited Windows USA to come to their home. We ultimately bought, but had to call 3 times before someone was in the area.

Ultimately, we learned that YOU either respond to their flyer, or are referred by someone you know who has bought. What a novel concept - receive business from someone you've done business with. How well do you think that would work if you do a *** job or have an inferior product?

Was there pressure on us to buy that night? Of course.

By the same token, how many companies do you know that will have a representative work around your schedule and be there at 8 p.m.?

That's a person trying to make a living, and if you want to buy the glued together window at Lowe's, attempt to get someone to even help you at that hour.

Like the previous poster, I agree, you crybabies were simply in it for the $100 bucks. You are pathetic.

Guest

Windows USA makes a great window. The price is a little too high.Installation is not good for the price, I am redoing windows trim on the inside of the house.I am stuck with some bad financing, I pay 175.00 a month and 90.00 goes to interest.

Guest

I would like to say this... I looked at windows usa work.

They actually done a great job. They put in windows for my grandparents and my grandparents are very pleased with the job they done, but I honestly didn't see $13,000 worth of windows in the 18 they had put in.

I've been in the window business with 2 different manufacturers over the course of most of the last 2 decades. The company I currently represent has never had less than an A+ BBB rating.

We've received several BBB Outstanding Service Awards. We have an A+ Angie's List rating and consistently receive their Super Service Award. Our products are rated for both residential and commercial use and will test equal or better to Windows USA and most other companies who operate similarly to Windows USA. Our typical sale, installed, runs on average between $375 and $500 per window, depending on size and options.

We run into guys like these on a daily basis.

First off, an A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau is not that hard to achieve. Most of these companies sell decent products, have good installation, and they have good customer service. The biggest problem is that they are terribly over-priced. The Better Business Bureau does not log such complaints about pricing, because the market price is whatever the customer is willing to pay.

High-pressure tactics and high-pricing will never be reflected in a BBB rating.

Secondly, there are many 100 percent American-Made products in the replacement window business. Since a properly measured job must almost always be custom-made, having them built out of country doesn't work well logistically.

Almost all of the major replacement window fabricators are located in-country, as are extruders and glass manufacturers. Most of your better companies also use hardware manufactured in the US.

This guy sounds like a rep with a well-rehearsed, albeit very misleading, sales pitch.

It's sales will you all quit complaining of course they are gonna try to sale for a higher price at first if you have any intelligence at all u won't take first price but do your research before you hate them they are a great company A+ rating with the better business bureau and there customer service is second to none can you buy cheaper windows yes but you get what you pay for with this company it's not only a great product but a true lifetime warranty and great people backing it up and they make there own windows 100% American made certified find another window company that has that certification you won't because there isn't one now they may say made in us but that just means assembled in the us there certification means every component in there windows is us made not shipped from China plus you can make hundreds even thousands on the referral promo if you just work it right its easy money you people disgust me

Had the Windows USA presentation tonight. He was here for 2 hours and I didn't forcibly eject him out the door, but if he had called his 'manager' one more time I might have been close.

The windows are actually very nice, but I wondered in this day and age of computers, Wi-Fi, and I-pads why he needed a phone line for a fax machine. Answer is so that he could play the continual tag team game of calling his manager and dropping the price every step.

If they do everything they say, the company must be good to work with, but why do they push this continual hard sell routine, and why, if they are so great and do so well, do they constantly push for you to sign now. Answer, because they are afraid you might check how much another company will charge for the same job.

We bought from a major company 10 years ago, had problems, called, and were told that the "licensee" who was selling their product was out of business and they weren't responsible for warranty issues.

Two years ago, we bought from Windows U.S.A. High pressure? A little. Were we told we had to make a decision that night? Yes, up front. Since then, we've had to replace a screen and two latches, the customer service department overnighted them, absolutely fantastic.

So to all of you whiners and *** on this site, buy the cheap window and deal with the consequences. As to being forced to make a decision, try going back to Kroger or Wal Mart two weeks after they run a special and get the same deal.

I notice like the other poster pointed out not ONE of you sent the $100 back that they paid you for your time. You are pathetic cry babies.

I had a wonderful experience with Windows USA. The installation of my windows went smoothly and the installer answered all questions to my satisfaction, demonstrated how the windows worked as well as removal and replacing screens.

These vinyl replacement windows are well worth the investment. They replaced the original windows in my home.

Stand Behind Their Word

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We had a presentation from this company, this past Thursday. The representative was great, professional and thorough.

We told him it's a shame you have to be so suspicious of people just doing their job. We have been cheated and taken advantage of, by workers who we paid to work on home. It was always shoddy and sloppy work habits with other companies.

Windows USA really seems to stand behind their word. If anyone is looking for new windows, please contact this company.
